Accra Bourse Index rises on PBC, StanChart gains
The GSE-Composite Index (GSE-CI), the benchmark measure of performance of the Ghana Stock Exchange, rose 22.7 points to 1,555.23 points from 1,532.53 points on Tuesday with a year-to-date return of 29.63 per cent.
The GSE-Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI), which tracks the performance of listed financial stocks, also advanced by 27.68 points to 1365.74 points from 1,338.06 points with a year-to-date change of 31.34 per cent.
The session saw six price changes – four gainers and two losers.
Standard Chartered Bank continues its impressive run up GH¢1.07 to GH¢14.68, Total Ghana was up GH¢0.02 to GH¢25.12, Produce Buying Company rose GH¢0.03 cedis to GH¢0.25 and Ecobank Ghana gained GH¢0.02 to GH¢3.72.
On the flip side, State Insurance Company lost GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.31 and Ghana Commercial bank was down GH¢0.07 to GH¢3.00.
Market Capitalization rose to close the session at GH¢55,374.66 million from GH¢55,251.03 million on Tuesday.
More than five million shares were traded during the session, valued at over 1.388 million cedis.
