US wishes Ghana happy 56th Independence anniversary
The US government has sent its felicitations to Ghana on the country’s 56th Independence anniversary. Ghana gained independence on March 6, 1957 from the British.
As the country celebrates a historic event, the US says it is still a committed partner and friend to Ghana.
“…wishes to remind the people of Ghana that as they celebrate this special day with family, friends and loved ones that the United States is a committed partner and friend,” Her Excellency C. Pat Alsup, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy said in a message.
According to the congratulatory message, since Ghana’s last Independence Day celebration, the US has advanced this strong partnership by launching the “New Alliance for Food Security, approving Ghana’s eligibility for a second Millennium Challenge Corporation compact; and implementing development assistance programming of roughly $170 million to support Ghanaian priorities in the areas of economic growth, agriculture, health, education and governance.”
“We look forward to working side-by-side with Ghana in the months and years to come to advance all of our common objectives,” Pat Alsup said.
