Germany supports amateur boxing in Ghana

Germany is supporting a two-week course for amateur boxing in Ghana. The course kicked off March 8, 2013 with a press conference at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The German Federal Foreign Office is funding the programme which is being implemented in collaboration with the Ghana Boxing Authority.

A statement by the German Embassy in Accra said the training course is led by Christian Morales, a famous German boxing coach and former multiboxing champion.

“Focus of the boxing course is modern coaching techniques, nutrition aspects as well as strength and conditioning health,” the statement added.

Mr. Thomas Wimmer, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy and Ghana’s Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah were at the press conference.
