Shop assistant fined for abducting girlfriend
A Cape Coast Magistrate’s Court on Monday imposed a fine of GH¢320 on Nana Quansah, a shop assistant, for abducting her sixteen –year-old girlfriend.
Quansah, who pleaded guilty would go to prison for one month in default.
Police Inspector Christiana Sampong told the court presided over by Ms. Mercy Adei Kotei that on March 3 this year, the girl spent the whole day in Quansah’s house.
The prosecution said Nana Quansah and the girlfriend went to the house of Enoch Essuman, a witness in the case, at Essuakyire.
The court heard that Nana Quansah pleaded with Essuman to allow them to spend the night in his room but they ended up staying there for three days.
Police Insp. Sampong said Nana Quansah absconded and the complainant, Seth Larbi, father of girl reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service.
She said Larbi managed to arrest Nana Quansah from his hideout and handed him over to DOVVSU.
