Ghana, Italy could develop software on e-Health – Dr Boamah
Dr Omani Boamah, Minister of Communications, has said Ghana is committed to strengthening its bilateral relations with Italy to draw the expertise of the country in various sectors.
He said the country was ready to draw the expertise of Italy in social, political, economic and Information Communication Technology (ICT) to help move the Ghana forward.
Dr Boamah said this when the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Ms Tullio Gumah paid a courtesy call on him on Tuesday in Accra.
He said Ghana appreciates the Italian Government support to the advancement of the country’s economy growth in the various sectors.
Dr Boamah said Ghana and Italy could develop software which can be used in the e-health and education sectors and that the telecom sector of Ghana also needs the support Italy.
He said the electronic service has helped the Ghana Revenue Authority to increase the collection of revenue and currently with the Birth and Death Registry the citizenry could apply for a Birth and Death Certificate electronically.
Dr Boamah was thankful to the Italian government for their response to calls by government in dealing with urgent issues in the country.
Ms Guma, Italian Ambassador to Ghana said, Italy was committed to financing bilateral projects in the country’s various sectors.
She said the Government of Italy was determined to make its mission in Ghana a good one and that Italy was interested in supporting the country e-services project to improve the collection of data and information in the various sectors.
Ms Guma said Ghana would continue to be a priority to the Italy due to her ability to consolidate her democratic gains which has created the needed atmosphere and environment for investment opportunities in the country to thrive.
