KATH told to secure international laboratory standards accreditation
The Ghana Association of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists (GABMLS) has appealed to the management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to secure International Medical Laboratory Standards Accreditation (ISO 15189).
This would ensure international acceptability of its laboratory test results to prevent further test re-run by other international facilities.
Mr Prince Sodoke Amuzu, President of the Association, made the call when he led a delegation to introduce the newly elected executives of the KATH Chapter of GABMLS, to the Chief Executive of the Hospital, Professor Ohene Adjei, in Kumasi.
It was to also brief him on some of the initiatives they were taking to promote the professional interest of the association.
He informed him that they had developed policy guidelines to enhance the professional competence of its members at all levels.
Mr Amuzu appealed to the hospital authorities to make available the needed resources to enable laboratory scientists to provide quality services to the people.
Prof Ohene Adjei counseled the leadership of the association to work hard to ensure that its members maintained high standards of professionalism.
The KATH Chapter is chaired by Mr Edward Yaw Afriyie, with Mr Yaw Boaitey, as Vice Chairman, Mr Elliot Dogbe, Secretary, Mr Michael Odame, Organizing Secretary, and Mr Emmanuel Asiamah, Financial secretary.
