Revenue agencies urged to guard national kitty jealously

cediMr Confidence Nyadzi, Chief Collector in-charge of General Duties at the Tema Sector of Customs, has called on revenue mobilisation agencies to jealously guard the national kitty at all times to accelerate growth and development.

To this end, he said, the agencies should be prepared to expose disgruntled individuals who would want to embark on a path of revenue sabotage.

Mr Nyadzi made the call when he outdoored Customs Brokers Association – Ghana (CUBAG’s) cloth as a Friday wear at an impressive ceremony in Tema.

He advised clearing agents and other players in the forwarding business to guard against criminal activities that end up tarnishing the good image of the maritime industry.

The Chief Collector commended the initiators of the national Friday wear idea for exhibiting a high sense of nationalism and patriotism and said: “It instils pride in garments made in Ghana designed from fabrics made in Ghana.”

Mr Dan Asomaning, President of CUBAG, whose speech was read for him at the function, recounted the historical background of the Association and said it was inaugurated on December 18, 1992.

Mr Asomaning said while CUBAG’s membership was restricted to companies licensed by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, it aimed among others at performing the business of clearing and forwarding and the dissemination of information and policies related to international trade.
