Rotary Club of Tema – Meridian presents computers to schools

The Rotary Club of Tema–Meridian on Thursday presented 25 computers and accessories and quantity of books worth GHC11,000 to four basic schools in the Central Region at a ceremony at the Rotary Centre in Tema.

The items were donated by Mrs Bonnie Sutherland, the Chief Executive Officer of Afretech, a Canadian NGO of British Columbia and her aides, Messrs Efo Kwawu Agbemenu and Aaron Kwasi Asante.

The beneficiary schools are the Catholic Primary and Junior High and the Methodist Primary and Junior High Schools, all at Assin Anyinabrim in the Central Region.

Mrs Carlotta Emefa Ayayee, President of the Rotary Club of Tema – Meridian, who made the presentation on behalf of the donors, told the school children that they could survive the global challenges in education if only they applied themselves well in Information Communication Technology (ICT).

She observed that an ICT intensive and practical oriented approach in learning would generate enormous creativity and innovation in the school children.

Mrs Emefa Ayayee commended Delmas Shipping Lines and TCT Bollore African Logistics whose invaluable assistance to the Rotary Club of Tema – Meridian ensured the clearance of the container from the Tema Port.

Mr Joy Kwabina Amedorme, Assemblyman of Assin Anyinabrim and a Teacher of the Catholic Junior High School received the items on behalf of the four schools and expressed gratitude to the donors for the kind gesture.

He appealed to the donors to continue supporting the community.
