UniBank launches SME account for customers

Unibank1UniBank, a local commerical bank on Thursday launched an SME Plus account for customers to grow the Bank’s market share of small and medium-scale enterprises and also establish a strong presence in the market.

The product is a hybrid account, which offers the opportunity for SMEs to have a COT free current account with a lower minimum balance of GHC 200.00.

Mr Clifford Mettle, General Manager of International Banking and Product Development said this at a seminar, where the SMES Plus account was launched in Accra on Thursday.

He said the purpose of the account was to operate day to day transactions and at the same time earn interest on the account without transferring funds into an investment account.

The seminar was jointly organised by uniBank’s SME and International Trade Banking Departments on the theme “SME Growth-Our Concern”.

The event was to build the capacity of the SME customers to enhance the expansion of their business pursuits.

Mr Mettle stated that the Bank had played a key role in the performance and relevance of the Ghanaian financial environment.

“This product is designed to offer SMEs the opportunity to operate a Current Account with no monthly maintenance charge”.

Mr Samuel Sakyi-Hyde, Head of SME Banking of uniBank said the Bank would continue to work hard to satisfy the customers especially on the SMEs service.

He added that Cash built up on SME Plus account could also be used as collateral for a credit facility from the Bank.
