Ghana Black Queens move up to 50th in FIFA rankings
Ghana’s Black Queens moved a place up to 50th position in the latest rankings of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).
The Queens still with 1459 points according to the ratings released by the global body on Friday, replaced Cameroon on the half-century position whilst the Indomitable Lionesses moved to 49th.
Information gathered by GNA Sports from the rankings indicates that the Black Queens maintained their position as the third best team on the continent behind Nigeria and Cameroon. The Super Falcons of Nigeria retained their 32nd position on the global ranking, meaning there is no African team in the top 30.
African champions, Equatorial moved up to fifth, a place behind South Africa, with Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt complete the continent’s top 10.
There were no major changes within the world’s top seven ranked teams with United States of America (USA) still the topmost ranked women’s team. Germany, Japan, Brazil, France, Sweden, Canada, England, Australia and Korea DPR make the top 10 best ranked teams.
The Black Queens failed to qualify for the African Women’s Championship held in 2012 in Equatorial Guinea.
