Emmanuel Frimpong makes memorable Ghana debut
Emmanuel Frimpong has a spring in his steps following his ability to live his dream of playing for the Black Stars after making his debut in Ghana’s impressive 4-0 win over Sudan on Sunday.
The Arsenal midfielder was a substitute in the game Ghana had to win to keep her yearn for a third successive World Cup appearance rolling and the player is quick to count his debut as ‘a day I will never forget in my life’.
The former English youth player switched nationalities to play for Ghana and after getting a look in the second half, Frimpong said ‘I feel very proud because this is a fantastic day for me, my family and all my fans. I will never forget today.
‘I always wanted this; just to play for this team with this many top class players. They (players) made me easily feel at home and all welcomed and that made it simple to settle in’
The midfielder who replaced Rabui Mohammed said ‘It is a very good result for us today. It was a tough game but we kept our focus and worked hard. We all knew what was at stake and as long as we can keep working and our focus, we will be in Brazil.’
Goals from Asamoah Gyan, Wakaso Mubarak, Abdul Majeed Waris and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu wrapped all three points for Ghana, and reduced the gap between Ghana and Group D leaders, Zambia to one.
The Stars has won twice and lost once in three games to amass six points of a possible nine.
Ghana will be required to win the three remaining duels with Sudan and Lesotho away, and the epic meeting with Zambia at home to make an entry into the last tier of the qualifiers which will be a crucial two-leg affair.
