NSS cultivates over 3,500 bags of maize at Komenda
A total of 3,526 bags of maize were cultivated by the Central Regional branch of the National Service Secretariat (NSS) on its 415.5 acres of farm lands at Komenda, last year to complement government’s efforts at achieving food security in the country.
The Secretariat achieved this feat under the supervision of the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Agriculture Directorate, which supervised the project.
Mr. Isaac Kweku Sam, the Municipal Chief Executive for the KEEA Assembly made this known at the General Meeting of the Assembly on Wednesday and commended the NSS in the Municipality for their contribution towards Government’s effort in ensuring food security.

On education, he indicated that the assembly was embarking on the registration of all 50 privates schools in the municipality.
Nine schools are on the school feeding programme with a population of 5,302 pupils last year as against 5,138 in 2011, whilst under the Government’s one laptop per child programme Junior High Schools in the municipality received 720 rlg laptops.
