Ethiopian, Oman Air share routes
Ethiopian Airlines and Oman Air agree to share routes between Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa and Muscat, the capital of Oman.
According to the two airline operators, they have entered into a ‘codeshare partnership’ which will offer greater choice for their customers.
“This codeshare agreement will cover flights between the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa and the Omani capital of Muscat,” they said in a joint statement April 2, 2013.
According to the statement, the service will be operated using Ethiopian Airlines aircraft and will build on the airline’s four flights per week between the two cities, and it will be marketed by Oman Air.
“The codeshare agreement with Oman Air gives our customers more flight schedule options as well as convenient and hassle free connection to points Ethiopian doesn’t fly directly,” Tewolde Gebremariam, Ethiopian Airlines CEO said.
The agreement is also expected to afford Oman Air customers the benefit of Ethiopian’s extensive network in Africa currently covering 60 cities on the continent including domestic stations in Ethiopia.
