President of ICAO arrives in Ghana for AFCAC Conference
Mr Roberto Kobeh González, President of the Council of International Civil Aviation Organisations (ICAO) has arrived in Ghana to attend the 23rd Plenary Session of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC).
The Conference, which started on Tuesday with a closed door session, in Accra, is being hosted by Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport.
Mr Gonzalez was met on arrival by Mr Willie Orhin, Deputy Director General of the GCAA at Kotoka International Airport (KIA), Ms Iyabo Sosina, Secretary General of AFCAC, who is also in the country for the conference, Mrs Doreen Owusu-Fianko, Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company limited as well as other directors of ICAO who are also in Ghana for the conference.
The 23rd AFCAC conference is the second in Ghana since 2007.
President John Dramani Mahama is expected to officially open the conference on Wednesday April 3.
Other participants at the conference include Ministers of States, Directors-General of the various Civil Aviation Authorities in Africa, and delegations from various international aviation organisations and countries.
Discussions during the session would focus highly on the improvement of aviation safety in Africa and collaborative measures that would enable the industry in Africa to meet growing demands.
