US medical experts conduct free health screening exercise at Kobedi

stethoscopeA team of medical experts from Oklahoma in the United States of America has undertaken a free health screening exercise for residents at Kobedi in the Sunyani West District of Brong-Ahafo Region.

Led by Dr Johnny Giggs, the five health personnel were in the community through the effort of MAP international, a non-governmental organisation working to promote the health status of the people in the area.

More than 800 residents benefitted from the exercise which lasted for three days.

They were screened on basic health care concerns like malaria, diarrhea, high blood pressure and typhoid fever.

Dr Giggs later told newsmen the eating habit of residents was not the best and appealed that they eat more fruits to augment their diet.

He expressed concern about the poor sanitary conditions in the area, which he said, needed to be improved to control the spread of communicable diseases.
