Ghana, Italy seek collaboration on illegal migration, narcotic drugs

The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Ms Laura Carpini on Friday called on the Minister of the Interior, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi to discuss issues aimed at improving the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.

She noted that the two countries had enjoyed long standing cordial relationship in the areas of political leadership and agriculture and there was the need to ensure the sustainability of the relationship.

She said other areas such as illegal migration and narcotic drugs were of so much concern to the two countries and Italy was ready to partner The Police, Immigration and other security agencies to combat the narcotic trade and human trafficking prevailing in the country.

Ms Carpini called for the need to strengthen the policy system and fully implement the bilateral treaty to address the serious issues outlined by the two countries.

She presented a book of Ancient Pictures of Tuscany to the Minister.

Mr Ahwoi mentioned the need to reactivate the existing cooperation to deal with illegal migration and narcotic trade and pledged Ghana’s support to ensure its successful implementation.
