2013 WASSCE takes off
The 2013 West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE), has taken off smoothly in some senior high schools (SHS) in Tamale Metropolis.
A total of 31,645 comprising 19,872 males and 11,773 female students are expected to write the exams in the region.
The candidates comprise SHS three and SHS four students who appeared to be in good spirits and prepared to undertake the examination, which begins on Tuesday with Oral English.
Mr Yakubu Douglas, Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration at Northern School of Business, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the academic facility is presenting 979 students for the WASSCE.
At Tamale Senior High, the Headmaster Alhaji Tahiru Mahama told the GNA that out of 1,384 students who registered for the WASSCE, two were absent.
Chief Naatongmah Dramani, Assistant Headmaster of Administration at Ghana Senior High School said the facility presented 1,299 students for the examination.
He said some of the students had already taken practical exams in Food and Nutrition and French Orals.
At Kalpohini SHS, 557 candidates were presented for the exams while the Presbyterian SHS in Tamale also offered 253.
