Gold Fields Ghana says miners back from strike
Gold Fields today April 9, 2013 confirmed that its employees who went on strike last week are back to work.
The miner shut down its Tarkwa and Damang operations due to the strike action by the workers. Gold Fields described the strike as illegal.
In a short statement, Gold Fields said the illegal strike at the two mines have been resolved.
The employees returned to work yesterday April 8, 2013.
“…employees at Tarkwa and Damang mines in Ghana returned to work yesterday evening and this morning,” said Gold Fields.
This was after management and the Ghana Mineworkers Union reached settlement on the issues that gave rise to the dispute, it added.
