Four remanded for robbing Tema Forex Bureau

law-and-justiceA Tema Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded four people into Police custody for robbing a Tema Forex Bureau on February 27.

The four, Prince Osabutey, a driver’s mate staying in Ashaiman and his three accomplices, Kofi Dzakadzi, Kofi Alhassan and Francis Fiawu are expected to reappear before the court on April 15.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Maxwell Atingane, the Tema Regional Police Commander, said the Bureau, Bulisah Forex Bureau, is located at Tema Community One and is its operated by Alhaji Mahama Bulisah, a businessman.

DCOP Atingane said two children of Alhaji Bulisah, Yusif Mahama and Mohammed Mahama are his assistants who help him to operate the Forex Bureau.

He said on Sunday February 27 at about 1730 hours Osabutey run into the Forex Bureau and requested Yusif to give him the cedi equivalent of 10,000 CFA.

DCOP Atingane said as soon as Yusif opened the drawer Osabutey pulled out a gun and ordered Yusif to surrender all monies in the drawer and on the counter.

He said said Dzakadzi and Alhassan also rushed in with a cutlass and a knife while at the same time Fiawu waited at the entrance of the Forex Bureau to ensure the success of the operation.

DCOP Atingane said the four succeeded in robbing the Forex Bureau of the following currencies: 63,705 dollars, 30 pounds, 20,215 Euros, 8,597 CFA, 20,500 naira, 1,500 Canadian dollars, 220 Swiss France, 172 Cameroonian CFA, 1,550 Ghana cedis, in addition to three mobile phones.

The Tema Regional Police Commander said Alhaji Bulisah reported the matter to the Police which led to the arrest of Osabutey on March 6.

DCOP Atingane said the remaining three were also arrested on April 1, at their various hideouts in Tema.
