Seven Amansie-Central basic schools receive 168 laptops
Seven selected basic schools in the Amansie Central District were on Wednesday presented with 168 laptop computers to enhance the teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The beneficiary schools are Suhyenso, Fiankoma, Hia, Huu-Akwansram, Jacobu, Numereso and Akrofrom, D/A Junior High Schools (JHS). They each received 24 computers.
Mr Robert Bennett Forkuoh, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said this was in line with the government’s promise to provide all basic schools with computers.
He spoke of the need to strengthen information technology education in schools to ensure that the youth of the nation were not behind by globalization.
It is the only way to make them competitive in the global market, he said
Mr Forkuoh urged the schools to take good care of the laptop computers and avoid their misuse.
Mr. Louis K. Wadja, the District Education Director, welcomed the supply of the computers and said they would be of tremendous benefit to the school children, especially when ICT has been made an examinable subject.
Nana Konadu Yiadom, Queen of Jacobu, pleaded with the government to supply the rest of the basic schools in the district with computers.
