TEWU gets substantive General Secretary

The National Executive Council (NEC) of Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) of Trades Union Congress, has confirmed Mr Raph A. Apaaya as the substantive General Secretary of the union.

According to TEWU’s constitutional requirement, Mr Apaaya who was then the Deputy General Secretary should be confirmed to replace the late Mr Mohammed S. Bogobiri, who passed away in February 16.

Article 21, sub-section B of TEWU constitution requires that in case of retirement, resignation, dismissal or death, the NEC shall confirm the Deputy General Secretary as the General Secretary.

Mr Apaaya rose through the ranks to his present position.

He holds HND certificate in Secretaryship and management as well as Diploma in Economics and Financial analysis.

He has also undergone several training including research and communication and
skills in collective bargaining.
