Court adjourns GCNET case
The Commercial Court Division of the High Court in Accra, on Friday adjourned to April 25 full hearing application on notice for order for audit of the Ghana Community Network Services’ (GCNET) Ghana Customs Management Systems.
The court was presided over by Justice Mrs. Gertrude Torkornoo.
The Ghana Customs Management Systems is versatile automated system for processing customs declarations, customs regimes and payment.
In the previous application, lawyers for the plaintiff filed an application for an interlocutory injunction restraining any state agency from either renewing any contract with GCNET or entering into similar contract with them.
On January 10, this year, a writ was filed at the commercial court in Accra, which sought the court’s order against the renewal of contract between government agencies and GCNET.
Other defendants in the law suit are; Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana Revenue Authority, and Ministry of Justice and Attorney General’s Department.
Currently, GCNET is the sole agency mandated by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to provide electronic data inter-change platform and custom management application software for Ghana Revenue Authority.
