Ghana Water Company names new MD
Government has appointed Kwaku Godwin Dovlo, a civil engineer, as the new Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).
The Board of Directors of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) made the appointment following a directive from the Presidency.
Mr Dovlo who assumed office as Acting Managing Director on April 12th last week, took over from Mr Kweku Botwe, who has been directed to report at the Ministry of Water Resources Works and Housing for re-assignment.
Until his appointment, Mr. Dovlo was the Acting Deputy Managing Director of GWCL.
The Public Relations Manager of the GWCL, Mr Michael Agyeman in a statement on the appointment said, Mr. Dovlo brings to his new position the relevant and varied experience in strategic planning, engineering, water supply operations and management.
Mr Dovlo had held diverse and increasing management roles in Ghana Water Company Limited.
He started his career with Ghana Water Company Limited in 1979 as an Assistant Engineer in Kumasi. In 1986 he was appointed as the Distribution Engineer for Accra-Tema Metropolitan Area and remained on this position until 1995 when he was promoted to become the Area Engineer for Greater Accra Region.
By dint of hard work, Mr Dovlo rose to the grade of Chief Manager in 1999 and within the period up to 2008 he headed creditably Upper East, Northern and Central Regions in that sequence.
In 2009, he was appointed the General Manager in charge of Operations for Western, Central and Volta Regions. A year later, he was transferred to Accra as the Chief Manager in charge of Accra East Region, a position he held until January 2012 when he was appointed Acting Deputy Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited.
Mr Dovlo holds a Masters Degree in Sanitary Engineering from the now UNESCO-IHE (Institute for Water Education), the Netherlands, as well as Executive Masters Degree in Business Administration from GIMPA.
