GH¢10,000 water project for Ola Girls SHS inaugurated

A GH¢10,000 water project for the Ola Girls Senior High School at Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region has been inaugurated.

The facility, which has the capacity to pump 5.2 litres of water from underground per minute, was jointly financed through individual contributions of some Kenyasi citizens in the United States of America (USA) and Past Ola Girls Students Association (POGA).

It is directly connected to pump water to some existing tanks put in place by the school authorities to supply the entire school with water for domestic use.

With the effort of Mr Sampson Agyenim Boateng, a native of Kenyasi and a philanthropist based in California, the USA based Kenyasi citizens contributed about GH¢7,000 while POGA took the additional cost of the project.

Mr Boateng expressed appreciation to all the USA based Kenyasi citizens, especially Dr Maxwell Oteng, Dr Adu Poku and Mr Emmanuel Kontor, whose tremendous support made the facility to become a reality.

The Reverend Sister Martha Davis, Headmistress of the school, said the facility had come at an opportune time as it would help solve the perennial acute water shortage faced by the school especially in the dry season.

She thanked the donors for the gesture and was optimistic that they would continue to support the school.

Mrs Vida Korang, POGA National President, appealed to other old students to join the association and help support the school to improve on its academic performance.

Father Felix Twumasi, School Chaplain, expressed the hope that the facility would be a “source of everlasting water” for the school.
