No shoddy contractor will be tolerated – Upper West Regional Minister
Dr Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Upper West Regional Minister, has warned that he would not tolerate contractors who carry out shoddy works on government projects.
Projects that were carried out during Kwame Nkrumah’s regime are still sturdy because they were executed well.
He gave the warning at Wechiau and Dorimon in Wa West District of the region when he paid a courtesy call on chiefs at Wechiau and Dorimon Traditional Areas.
Dr Nsoh noted that the government is putting in place interventions like the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority to help curb food insecurity in the district.
He said government has interest in chiefs because they are agents of development.
Naa Bandanaa Chielinah, Meteu Naa who spoke on behalf of the Traditional Council called for expansion of infrastructure in the district.
He said roads in the area are in deplorable state making it difficult for farmers to transport their produce to market centres, resulting in post harvest losses.
He appealed to government to upgrade the poly clinic in the district to a hospital to be manned by a doctor attend to the health needs of the people.
At Dorimon, Naa Sohimwininye Danaa Gore, the Paramount asked the government to build an irrigation facility for people in the area to promote dry season farming.
He called on the government to deliver its promise in 2009 to reconstruct the Dorimon road.
The chief also asked for establishment of a Senior High School in Dorimon.
