Police Sergeants build capacity
A refresher course for 30 Police Sergeants within the Tema Region who are due for promotion to the rank of Inspector opened in Tema on Monday.
The five-day programme is to build the capacity of the junior police officers to enable them to face squarely the numerous challenges in their expected new roles as team leaders.
They would be taken through subjects including policing and democracy, objectives of patrols, and duties of a station officer, among others.
Opening the course, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Maxwell Atingane, Tema Regional Police Commander reminded the participants that they were selected purely on merit.
The Regional Police Commander, therefore, advised them to take the course seriously and approach it with a high sense of discipline and commitment.
DCOP Atingane was optimistic that at the end of the day the junior Police officers would be equipped with knowledge and skills to assist them in their new positions.
The course is the second to be organised by the Ghana Police Service for junior ranks in the Tema, Volta, Western, Upper East and Upper West Regions.
The first one was held last week for those in Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern and Central Regions.
Present at the opening ceremony today were the Commanders of the various districts in the Tema Region.
