World Vision Ghana supports health delivery in Bawku West District

World Vision Ghana (WVG) , an International Non-Governmental Organization has constructed  a maternity ward for the Zongoire Health Facility in the Bawku West District worth millions of Ghana Cedis.

In addition, the NGO had provided essential medical equipment to health centres and clinics in the District.

Mr Richmond Apotiga , Area Development  Manager, WVG, who disclosed this to the GNA at Zebilla said apart from the above  mentioned support to the District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service, it  has also trained 15 care givers to promote effective care for PLWHAs , as well as providing credit support for  them.

“We again conducted a number of food demonstrations with Mother to Mother Support Groups in communities in the District to promote balanced diet for children, in addition to the formation and training of 13 Mother to Mother Support Groups to help in infant and young child feeding”.

Mr Apotiga said WVG purchased and distributed over 3,000 insecticides treated bed nets to children in households in the District and mobilized and contributed to the maternal and child week celebrations.

“We also procured sanitary equipment for the Environmental Health and Sanitation unit and conducted clean up campaigns in communities in the area,” he said.

Mr Apotiga said WVG is supporting the District Health Management Team (DHMT) annually on the national immunization exercises and formed HIV/AIDS clubs in 14 schools in the District.

On WVG Sponsorship program, he said,  it had registered 3,239 children and that 2,839 were currently being sponsored

He said his outfit was also working on a sound natural resources and environmental management programme  dubbed “Farmer Managed and Natural Regeneration” (FMNR), where farmers are being encouraged to adopt best environmental practices.

“The goal of the FMNR is to improve the livelihoods of the people in the Programme area through the adoption on sound natural resources and environmental management practices” the ADP Manager stressed.
