NGO to support cleft lip persons to launch
Nationwide Cleft Foundation, a non-governmental organization to support persons born with cleft lip and palate, is to be launched in Sunyani on Wednesday, May 1.
The organization will provide cleft surgery, dental and medical screening to people within Brong-Ahafo Region and its environs.
A statement signed on Monday by Dr. Emmanuel Kofi Amponsah, an Oral and Maxillofacial Specialist and the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, said after the launch, free general medical and dental screening would be provided to the general public in Sunyani.
It said already, the Foundation was embarking on outreach programmes in some selected towns in the Region to providing free cleft surgery, medical and dental screening.
The towns are Hwediem, Atebubu, Kwame Danso, Yeji, Sampa, Prang, Berekum, Wenchi, Kintampo and Goaso.
“The Foundation pledges to collaborate with stakeholders in awareness creation and identification of children and adults who are unfortunately plagued with these ailments for redress.
“We are aware that you are interested in the child’s well-being and therefore, together we can bring hope to the children and families living in and around the Brong-Ahafo Region,” the statement added.
