Police secures court injunction on Aboakyire festival

Agona Swedru Circuit Court on Thursday placed and interim injunction on this year’s celebration of Aboakyire festival of the chiefs and people of Winneba.

This followed an application made to the court by the Police for order for interim injunction to restrain the Aboakyire Planning Committee and other persons involve in the preparation for the festival from organizing and celebrating the festival.

The court order signed by Mr Ernest Engman, Deputy Chief Registrar, was handed over to the Planning Committee of the festival, and copied the Ghana News Agency in Winneba.

The Police Administration has announced the suspension of demonstrations and celebration of festivals and other activities that would require police protection.
