Ghanaian boxer Bukom Banku records 20th knock-out
Ghana’s Braimah “Bukom Banku” Kamoko recorded the 20th knock-out of his career in the early hours of Saturday, after his Georgian opponent, George Tevdorashvili failed to return to the ring after six rounds.
Bukom Banku, fighting his 26th bout in a ten-round International Cruiserweight contest started on a slow note with a deficits on his score cards as the Georgian dominated the first three rounds with multiple punches on the body of the Ghanaian.
The tough talking Kamoko took control in the fourth round, constantly punching the ribs of the Georgian to wear him down, with occasional over head punches to the admiration of the crowd at the arena in a promotion dubbed “the Danger Zone” by Golden Mike Boxing Promotions.
Bukom Banku, who could hardly land any punch on the face of his opponent due to his good defensive approach and constant clinching finally landed several body punches on Tevdorashvili in rounds five and six, which eventually led to his inability to respond to the bell for the seventh round to grant the Ghanaian victory.
In other fights, Albert Mensah knocked-out Ben Odametey in the seventh round to win the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa Super Lightweight title, whilst Issah Samir knocked-out another Georgian, Robision Omsarahvili in one minute, 39 seconds of the third round to win the IBF World Youth Light Middleweight title.
Helen Joseph knocked- out Mariana Gulyas of Hungary in 33 seconds of round one of IBF Intercontinental Female Featherweight title, in what was described as one of the fastest records in boxing history.
