Chief of Accra Gonja community dead

The National Council of Zongo Chiefs, on Tuesday announced the death of Alhaji Mahama Salifu, Chief of the Gonja Community in Greater Accra, and President of the National Council of Muslims Chiefs.

A statement signed by Chief Alhaji Imoro Baba Issah, Public Relations Officer of the Council, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, said the late Alhaji Salifu passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013, and had since been buried.

It indicated that the Council expresses its condolences to members of the family of Alhaji Salifu and the Gonja community and the country at large.

The statement said the final funeral rites of Alhaji Salifu will take place at the Accra Newtown Green Mosque, on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at 1000 hours.
