Remittances ATM software developed for Barclays Bank Ghana
A new remittance software known as SelfServ has been developed by the New York listed NCR Corporation that will enable customers of Barclays Bank Ghana to send money through ATMs to their friends and relatives.
According to the American company, through its NCR remittance software, Barclays’s customers can send money to another person’s account in real time, using cash deposited at the ATM.
“…this software allows them to provide a value-added, fee-based service to typically underserved customers,” NCR said May 3, 2013 on its website.
Barclays, according to an NCR statement, has installed “29 NCR SelfServ 34 ATMs featuring intelligent deposit, allowing Barclays customers to deposit cash without an envelope and get immediate, on-screen validation of their deposit.”
NCR said the new ATMs also feature in-person bill payment.
Chief Operating Officer at Barclays Bank Ghana, Mr Michael Mensah-Baah was quoted in the statement as saying “Through our new ATM experience powered by NCR software, we can deliver faster and more convenient service. We anticipate their upcoming access to new ATM services, such as remittance and bill pay, will help us further distinguish Barclays as the premier banking institution in Ghana.”
NCR Vice President of Marketing, Brian Bailey, opined that Barclays Bank is taking an innovative approach to customer service in Ghana.
The NCR says the SelfServ ATMs have been purchased by financial institutions in more than 110 countries around the world.
