IGP tours Northern operational zones
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Mohammed Alhassan on Tuesday began a three-day official tour of some security operational posts and zones in the Northern Region.
The IGP, who was accompanied by DCOP John Kudalo, Director General of Police Operations is expected to inspect police logistics and interact with the personnel to know their operational challenges.
He would visit Gushiegu, Nakpanduri and Bawku to ascertain the difficulties on the ground and possibly resource the personnel with logistics.
At the Yendi Divisional Command, Mr. Alhassan inspected some armoured vehicles and bemoaned the bad maintenance culture of the personnel and urged them to ensure periodic maintenance of the vehicles, ready for security duties.
He expressed disappointment about the absence of communication gadgets at some of the police posts and promised to liaise with the National Security to provide the personnel with such equipments which could be used in times of danger.
The IGP told the personnel to give out their best despite the stressful conditions under which they found themselves to ensure the maintenance of peace and security saying, “I don’t want to meet personnel in the offices but on the ground”.
Mr. Alhassan presented insecticide mosquito nets to some police and military officers at the Yendi command posts and later paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya Na Yakubu Abdulai Andani where they held closed door meeting.
