Ghana Premier League: King Faisal pips Ashgold
King Faisal earned a vital 1-0 victory over visiting Ashgold in their Glo-Premier League match Day 26 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
Faisal had to wait until the 60th minute to break the deadlock through Kofi Owusu, who converted from the spot after substitute Sadat Wahab was brought down in the visitor’s box.
The substitute, who replaced injured Alhassan Mohammed in the second half gave the Ashgold defence a hell of time with his dribbling skills and pace.
Earlier in the first half, the Miners missed two glorious chances as AlhajiSani and Yakubu Mohammed missed narrowly their targets.
With defeat staring them in the face, Ashgold threw caution to the wind and engaged the homers in a more robust encounter which cost then in the end with substitute Isaac Morgan receiving a red card for rough play in the 80th minute.
Faisal had the opportunity to increase the tally on the stroke of time but Yassir Boss’ volley from Owusu’s in-swinger was saved by goalkeeper FatauDauda.
