Keegan Resources to start Esaase gold mining

Keegan Resources Limited, a gold mining company, is to begin operations at Esaase in the Amansie West District, Mr Ranny Oboro, its Community Relations Manager, has announced.

He said they are going to create job opportunities for more than 1,000 people.

Addressing an environmental assessment impact forum held at Tetrem, he said those, whose farms and properties would be affected by the mining activity would be adequately compensated.

They have already set up a Committee to see to it that no one in the 12 communities; Tetrem, Bontese, Amanchia, Kobeng, Ahwerewa, Manhyia, Mpatuom, Aboabo, Akataniase, Gyeninso, Tetekaso and Essuowin, whose property fall within its operation area is short changed.

They would maintain high standards of environmental safety and see to it that the people have access to good drinking water, electricity and other social amenities to improve the quality of their lives.
