Ghana FA hands Kotoko, Arsenal, Aduana home bans
The Ghana Football Aasociation (GFA) has handed temporarily home bans to Asante Kotoko, Berekum Arsenals and Aduana Stars for crowd violence related issues.
The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the GFA and in line with Article 15 (2) of its regulations which states “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where safety of clubs, match officials or spectators cannot be guaranteed” takes immediate effect.
According to the GFA, the home venues of the three clubs has witnessed series of violence in recent matches, which has marred the beauty of the game.
League leaders Kotoko are being punished from playing at their favourite Baba Yara Stadium after objects were held at assistant referee Abdul Salif Malik during the Week 25 clash with Medeama last Wednesday.
For Arsenals, their offence was for the attack on the Kotoko team bus and a pick-up vehicle belonging to the Ghana Police Service during their Week 26 clash last Sunday whilst Aduana are also facing punishment for physically assaulting a match official durinng their weekend clash with Liberty Professionals at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa.
“The decision is without prejudice to a determination of the cases by the Disciplinary Committee”, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will host Aduana Stars in their Week 27 clash on Sunday, May 19 at the Coronation Park in Sunyani.
