Let’s purge society of greed – Methodist Bishop

CrowdThe Methodist Bishop of Effiduase, Right Reverend Moses Quayson, has urged the church to do more to fight greed and other corrupt practices bedevilling the society.

He said the church exists to train, groom and transform and that it could simply not afford to fail in this mission.

Addressing the 16th annual synod of the church at Juaben, he expressed discomfort with the unbridled craze for money, indiscipline, intolerance and impunity, and said “Christians have a duty to mount a rescue operation”.

They need to work with zeal to help people to change from their bad ways adding, “We must have passion for lost souls.”

The four-day meeting was held on the theme “Witnessing to Christ today, mobilizing our individual resources for the development of the Ministry”.

Bishop Quayson urged them to live in accordance with the teachings of the Bible, saying “they should live out their faith” to become good examples to the rest of the people in their communities.

“For our witnessing to be effective, there must be a clear communication of the standards of righteousness, bolstered by a church that is willing to exercise redemptive, remedial and biblical church discipline”.

He said as part of its social responsibility, the Diocese and its Circuits would continue to give financial support to brilliant but needy students to pursue academic careers.

He invited them to pray unceasingly for the peace, stability and progress of the nation.

“We must continue to pray and cry out unto our God till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like blazing torch.”
