Awutu-Senya adopts measures to increase revenue generation
The Awutu-Senya District Assembly has put in measures to ensure increase in revenue generation, Mr Sampson Abbey Armah, District Chief Executive (DCE), has said.
The measures include formation of District Revenue Task Force to prosecute defaulters, strengthening the Area/Urban Councils to collect ceded items and identifying new sources of revenue.
Mr Armah, who said this at the Assembly’s meeting at Awutu Beraku, therefore, urged assembly members, departments and various organizations to augment the efforts of revenue collection to enable the Assembly to generate enough funds to support developmental projects.
According to the DCE, at the end of the first quarter this year, the Internally Generated Revenue stood at GH¢77,817.95, representing 71.07 per cent of the GH¢109, 492.56 budgeted for the period.
He said the total expenditure for the period was GH¢74,960, which represents 68.483 per cent of the estimated expenditure of GH¢109,467.54.
Mr Armah said the government, through the Assembly, had undertaken a number of development projects from 2009 to date.
He said the Assembly constructed an area council office at Awutu Beraku at the cost of GH¢55,512.99 and completed a six-unit classroom block at Awutu Bontrase, costing GH¢79,698.15.
It also constructed a dining hall at Senya Senior High and 10-unit classroom pavilion at Bawjiase Senior High at the cost of GH¢90,717.27 and GH¢219,106.65 respectively, he said.
Mr Armah said the district had benefited from the construction of 10 boreholes under the Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project.
He said under the same programme, five institutional latrines are to be constructed in various schools in the district.
