Obama makes first-time three-nation African trip after Ghana visit in 2009
US President Barack Obama will travel to three African countries starting June this year, the White House announced May 20, 2013.
This will be Mr Obama’s first trip to the sub-Saharan African region since 2009 when he and his family visited Ghana during the Presidency of the Late Prof. John Atta Mills.
Obama and his wife, Michelle, will leave for Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania from June 26 – July 3, 2013, the White House said in a statement.
“The President will reinforce the importance that the US places on our deep and growing ties with countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including through expanding economic growth, investment, and trade; strengthening democratic institutions; and investing in the next generation of African leaders,” the White House said.
It added that the trip will underscore President Obama’s commitment to broadening and deepening cooperation between the US and the people of sub-Saharan Africa to advance regional and global peace and prosperity.
During the African visit, Mr Obama is expected to meet with a wide array of leaders from government, business, and civil society, including youth, to discuss our strategic partnerships on bilateral and global issues.

That’s great! But I thought he would attained the African Union 50th years anniversary here in the African capital, Addis Ababa. That would have been much more great anyways.
One Love Africa!
President Obama should try and include Nigeria in is visit to Africa. I believe his presence will have positive impact on Nigeria and Nigerian as a whole. Thanks.
