240 SMEs in Ghana to get world-class IFC business training

BusinessesThe International Finance Corporation (IFC) has signed a pact with Advans Ghana Savings & Loans Ltd to train a new set of 240 SMEs in Ghana under its Business Edge programme.

The Corporation signed a similar agreement in February 2013 with Fidelity Bank and the Association of Oil Marketing Companies to train 200 SMEs in the counrty under the same programme.

According to the IFC, it signed the agreement with Advans Ghana on May 10, 2013 and in a statement copied to ghanabusinessnews.com said “The programme will help entrepreneurs gain the skills needed to succeed and supporting small business growth in the country.”

Under the the agreements, the 240 SMEs will be allowed to access world-class management training, run more efficient businesses and improve staff productivity, said the IFC which is the private arm of the World Bank Group.

“More robust small and medium enterprises are critical to creating jobs and generating growth for Ghana,” said Mary-Jean Moyo, IFC Country Manager for Ghana.

The Business Edge programme is an important part of IFC’s strategy to support smaller businesses in Africa.
