Ghana will reap investments at 2014 Commonwealth Games – Prof Dodoo

Professor Francis Dodoo, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) says the 2014 Commonwealth Games will provide the nation the platform to assess the impact of her investments in sports over the last three years.

He said after participating in the last All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique and London 2012 Olympic Games with an ageing team, most of the sports associations have since embarked on an intensive talent hunt and discovered new talent to represent at international events.

He told the media at launch of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Accra the discovered will be presented with the opportunity to showcase their potentials.

“Many people expected us to do well at the Olympics Games but it was too early to judge the few young ones we had in the team. It rather gave them the exposure to the international scene.

“I believe the Commonwealth Games will be the right platform to determine whether we made the rights investments or not”.

Alice Attipoe, Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) said her outfit was working in partnership with the GOC to help in the identification and grooming of talents ahead of the Games.
