White House to honour Ghanaian Ashifi Gogo for mobile innovation
Ghanaian innovator, Dr Ashifi Gogo will today May 29, 2013 be honoured by the White House, the Office of Communications at the US seat of government has announced.
Dr Gogo is being honoured for his innovation in bringing up Sproxil, a mobile technology that helps combat counterfeit goods.
Dr. Gogo, CEO of Sproxil, is one of eleven people who are Immigrant Innovator “Champions of Change”, the White House said.
The event is expected to highlight the best and brightest immigrant innovators and entrepreneurs worldwide who are helping create jobs and boosting the US economy thus making it more competitive.
“We are proud to recognize these leaders who work every day to grow our economy, advance science and technology, and support their home communities,” said Todd Park, the US Chief Technology Officer.
The Champions of Change programme was created as an opportunity for the White House to feature groups of Americans – individuals, businesses and organizations – who are doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.
In April this year, Sproxil was named a recipient of the US Department of Commerce’s ‘Patents for Humanity’ Award.
