Committee to oversee Upper West Akyem District policy implementation

Mr. Derek Ohene A. Bekoe, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper West Akyem on Saturday said a committee to oversee the implementation of sound environmental and socio-economic and technological development in the area would soon be inaugurated.

Mr Bekoe, who said this at the Assembly’s 1st ordinary meeting of the 2nd session at Adeiso, called on members of the Assembly to support the committee to succeed.

He said the Assembly is seeking to expand the existing market as well as creating new ones at Maame Dede junction and at Danso to enhance the revenue base of the Assembly to enable it to develop rural and feeder roads to boost economic activities in the District.

The DCE said plans are far advanced to renovate the Nyamebekyere building at Adeiso into an Ultra-modern market complex and offices for banking halls and an ICT centre and urged the assembly to recruit additional revenue collectors to expand the tax net.

Francis Teye, Presiding member of the Assembly in his welcome address, commended the assembly members for their commitment to duty and urged them to raise the living standards of the people in the District.
