Minister seeks support for entrepreneurs in Upper West

ICT_InternetDr. Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Upper West Regional Minister, has appealed to district assemblies in the region to identify promising entrepreneurs and support them to invest and expand their activities.

He said this could help create jobs, expand the revenue base of the assemblies and bring development to the area.

Dr. Nsoh made the appeal during the Ghana Investment Promotion Center’s (GIPC) Regional forum, in Wa on Wednesday.

He asked district assemblies to invest in tourism, culture, arts and production of craft and artefacts, to generate more revenue for development.

Dr. Nsoh appealed to the people to rethink, act positively and take advantage of opportunities and improve their living conditions.

“We must take advantage of opportunities available to us to improve our lots and not to sit down and only cry foul when foreigners come in to make use of untapped opportunities”, he said.

Dr. Nsoh asked the GIPC not to limit its operations to assisting investors in the region, but to help foreign investors to indentify investment opportunities.

He asked the GIPC to design a specific plan to support people who want to do business in the Upper West, Upper East and Northern regions.

Dr Nsoh said it would help bridge the development gap between the northern and southern parts of the country, and to prevent rural-urban migration among the youth in the three regions.

He announced that the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council was planning to develop a website on potentials in the region, and urged enterprises to advertise on it at a moderate fee, when it becomes functional.

Dr Nsoh asked district assemblies to provide their profiles and development potentials to be put on the webpage.
