Chainsaw operator jailed 180 days
A chainsaw operator, who could not understand why he should be prevented from beating up his wife by a friend and turned his anger on him, slashing him in the hand and head, has been sentenced to 180 days imprisonment.
The Nyinahin Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr Sam Nibi, additionally ordered Collins Owusu to pay to the victim an amount of GH¢800 as compensation.
Police Inspector Sampson Cobbina told the court that the convict and the complainant, Kwame Owusu, are friends and they both live at Kyekyewere, near Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District.
On May 31 this year at about 1930 hours, Collins picked a quarrel with the wife and began pummeling her with flurry of heavy punches.
The prosecution said Owusu could not stand the nasty scene and run to the aid of the woman to save her from further punishment.
He later left and the convict seething with anger chased him to his house where he attacked him with a cutlass, opening deep cuts on the head and the right hand.
Owusu was rushed to the hospital and a formal report made to the police.
