University of Cape Coast_UCCThe University of Cape Coast (UCC) has admitted a total of 2,351 undergraduate and post graduate students to undertake various courses in its Sandwich programmes for the 2013/2014 academic year.

More than 1,030 of the students are pursuing undergraduate programmes including education, which has the largest number, social sciences, Business and physical sciences, whilst the rests are post graduate students.

This year’s intake is 3.3 per cent higher than that of last year’s.

Professor (Prof) Domwine Kuupole, Vice Chancellor of UCC affirmed the institution’s commitment to its educational objectives as outlined in its mission statement, which stressed the overall development of students physically, morally, socially and intellectually, and that, it will continue to respond to the changing needs of education to make it more viable and effective.

“UCC remains committed to the holistic development of its students, it is not only concerned with academic excellence but also the moral uprightness of the students through discipline and respect for all people”, saying that, the quality of work hinges on discipline and hard work.

He said the Sandwich programme was instituted to offer opportunity to a large number of workers, whose schedules does not permit them to do regular studies to update their knowledge and upgrade themselves, not only for promotions, but also to serve their organizations and the country better.

Prof.Kuupole warned that even though the course was intensive the UCC will not compromise on quality and charged the students to persevere and work diligently for them to complete their various courses within the stipulated time.
