Obuasi Methodist starts sachet water business

The Obuasi Diocese of the Methodist Church has inaugurated a GH¢126,800 pure water project aimed at improving its finances and offering employment to the youth.

The idea of going into sachet water business was mooted at the Church’s 13th annual synod in April 2010 as part of diversifying its income-generation activities.

The new pure water known as “1000 Tongues” is said to offer new taste and quality to the booming sachet water business in the Municipality.

“This water is not an ordinary pure water but a healing water”, the Right Reverend S. R. Bosomtwe-Ayensu, the Bishop of the Diocese said when inaugurating the project.

He asked Church members to help sustain the project and not to sit down for it to become a “9-day wonder” commercial entity.

Bishop Bosomtwe-Ayensu said: “The project is not mine but the church’s business and therefore it behooves all of us to make it a profitable venture”.

The Methodist clergy charged the workers to be dedicated and truthful to enable the Church to derive the right dividend to encourage further expansion of the project.

“We have to expand this project and embark on new projects that will mean producing bottled mineral water in the near future”, he said.

Bishop Bosomtwe-Ayensu commended all those whose efforts and support brought the project to fruition.
