Upper West Minister worried about poor construction works

uncompleted-buildingsDr. Ephraim Avea Nsoh, Upper West Regional Minister, has expressed worry about the poor execution of some on-going government projects in the Wa Municipality.

He said most structures that were still under construction had major defects on them, while those that were completed a year ago had started deteriorating.

Dr. Nsoh, who made these remarks after inspecting government projects in the area, charged contractors to put the nation’s interest above their own, in order to develop the region.

He inspected an office complex for the Upper West Regional Lands Commission, which was started in May 2008 and was expected to be completed by June 2012.

The project, which was awarded at the cost of GH¢625,201.97 to Tee Pee, was 80 per cent complete.

Dr. Nsoh also inspected the office project for the Ghana National Service, which was started in May 2006 and was expected to be completed in December 2007 at a cost of GH¢ 350,000 .

The Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the project and said though it was about 90% complete it had already developed defects.

He inspected projects for St. Francis Xavier Senior High School, Friars of Immaculate Conception (FIC) Educational complex, Nusrat Jahan College of Education and the Wa Islamic Senior High School.
