SMEs in Volta Region need funding – NBSSI
Mr Ransford Kani, Senior Project Officer of National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI), said for four years now, the Board has not been able to secure funds from the Micro Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) to support Small and Medium Enterprises in the Volta Region.
He told the GNA in Ho that this has led to the collapse of viable enterprises while others were struggling to survive, worsening the unemployment situation in the region.
Mr Kani said the worst affected entities were food processing enterprises, adding that though six enterprises that received loans from MASLOC through the NBSSI had repaid money they took, the Board did not get more support.
He said NBSSI was negotiating with the Ghana Commercial Bank for a loan package to revive SMEs.
