FIFA U-20 World Cup: Ghana loses first game

footballGhana’s Black Satellites suffered a 1-3 loss to their French counterparts in their FIFA U-20 World Cup opener on Friday in Istanbul.

Five minutes past the hour mark, midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia broke the deadlock with a header as he soared above the Ghanaian defenders.

Three minutes later, Yaya Sanogo doubled the lead with a shot through the legs of Ghana goalie Eric Ofori Antwi from close range before Jean Bahebeck scored the third goal on 79 minutes.

The Satellites grab a consolation five minutes from time through substitute Richmond Boakye Yiadom.
